Ash tees and ash sweats with the huge steam locomotives design to back up to go forward. These powerful engines hauled heavy trains over mountain passes with the exhaust coming out behind the crew, keeping them from getting toxic heat and gas in the cab. This locomotive is the only one preserved at the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento.
